Once again the Inter Mountain Cup is upon us in the local Warmachine/Hordes community. The bi-annual event will be September 14th and there will be another painting giveaway from Geek Garage. Challenged with topping myself from last time I scoured the Privateer Press catalog to see what spoke to me. Many ideas came to mind, some of which I'll keep in mind for next time, but I settled on painting two trolls clashing.
The two trolls I chose are the Pyre Troll and the Storm Troll. These are both new plastic kits and both have a good opportunity for light sources.

Tau and Cake (part 3)
Progress so far on the Tau Riptide is looking pretty good. With the holiday weekend I was able to put down some primer and basecoat colors. Next step is to start masking for camo scheme.

Project Black 13
Project Black 13 has been on my painting desk for far too long but I'm hoping to complete it here in the next few days. These minis are for a friend and local Press Ganger and all he asked was that the base was something like I did on my Widowmaker.
Here is the progress so far.

Tau and Cake (part 2)
Busy times are upon me again but I managed to get the Riptide all sub assembled and cleaned. Next step will be priming and basecoat colors.
There is a standard pose in the kit made possible with small holes and tabs in the ball/socket joints. If I decide to change the pose I can easily just cut off these tabs and use poster tack to find a new pose.
Working on trying to make a normal update schedule which will be Monday and Thursdays. Let me know in the comments if there is anything you'd like to see more of and I'll try my best to accommodate.

Tau and Cake
On the desk tonight I have a new project that I'm working on for a store owner. The Tau Riptide is going to match the store display army color scheme; standard coloring but in a camo pattern.
Here is the progress so far.
Still in the assembly phase. I'll piece together as much as I can before further assembly would hinder painting.
Currently listening to Cake playlist.

Project: Double Force Org
Project: Double Force Org
The next 40k tournament in the area that I'll be attending is going to be 2000pts and will be using the new 6th ed rules for doubling the force organization. Normally I play Grey Knights but over the years I have collected regular space marines from various starter sets that I use with the Blood Angels codex. I'll be playing the BA for this tournament and will try to have everything painted. Here's the list I'm going to build up and bring. I have a majority of these kits and some already painted. What I dont have has been bits ordered.

Lady Aiyana & Master Holt base
I remembered that I took photos documenting the base I did for Lady Aiyana & Master Holt. If you have any questions, please leave them in the comments section.
| Here are the tools I used. Most are basic sculting tools that can be found at any hobby shop. The brass rod was hammered out to create the cobblestone and the sponge helps create a texture. |
| Super Sculpey firm and miliput are what I use to create the stonework. the ratio is 1:1. |

Finished projects from the weekend
Here is what I finished over the weekend.
This Chaos marine is from Dark Vengeance and is a practice color scheme.
And this is Typhus who I painted on commission for a local gamer.

Iron Kingdoms (part 3)
This past weekend we had our first encounter with the Iron Kingdoms campaign. This was very much a learning experience as my total amount of Warmachines equates to two games. The mechanics are very easy to learn and the play was very smooth. Here is who I brought to the fight:
Vasily
Human, Khador, Arcane Mechanik/Man-at-Arms
Thoughts on this character is that he is more of a supportive class. His primary role is helping with repairs to Steamjacks or creating new Mechanika items for the party. Being a Will Weaver allows him to run magic spells a little more forcefully than a Focus Caster (as long as he doesn't fail a Fatigue roll) and his Arcantik Bolt spell is useful for shutting down enemy Steamjacks. With his Polarity Shield spell any charges against his front arc are canceled and his Defense Line ability adds +1 to his ARM while in base-to-base with a friendly character. This lets him act as a nice decoy when in city terrain.

Iron Kingdoms (part 2)
The time has come for modding and sculpting on my Iron Kingdoms miniature. The base sculpt of the miniature is a Widowmaker Marksman. After cleaning off any mold lines, I spent some time with a chisel and file removing the fur trim on the bottom of his great coat. After that I used a mix of miliput and super sculpey and created armor plates, the cobblestone base, and the shield. Once I get my bits order in I can start on the head swap and left hand.
