Tau and Cake (part 4)

Here is how I achieved the camouflage pattern on the Riptide.

Step 1. Basecoat the Riptide in GW Tau light ochre.
Step 2. I took a metal ruler and laid a strip of masking tape on it. Then used a sharp new xacto blade and cut wave pattern strips.
Step 3. Mask of different areas of the Riptide keeping in mind not to have the mask too close to any other strip of tape.
Step 4. I covered the Riptide with the second color with is a mix of ochre and GW Skrag brown.
Step 5. Same as step 3 but also masked over the first layer of tape. This stage it is good to keep in mind what the final color areas will be.
Step 6. Laid down the final color which was pure Skrag brown.
Step 7. After leaving the pieces cure in the bright Utah sun I removed the mask and sealed everything with matte varnish before going and painting with a brush.

Tau and Cake (part 3)

Progress so far on the Tau Riptide is looking pretty good. With the holiday weekend I was able to put down some primer and basecoat colors. Next step is to start masking for camo scheme.

Tau and Cake (part 2)

Busy times are upon me again but I managed to get the Riptide all sub assembled and cleaned. Next step will be priming and basecoat colors.

There is a standard pose in the kit made possible with small holes and tabs in the ball/socket joints. If I decide to change the pose I can easily just cut off these tabs and use poster tack to find a new pose.

Working on trying to make a normal update schedule which will be Monday and Thursdays. Let me know in the comments if there is anything you'd like to see more of and I'll try my best to accommodate.

Tau and Cake

On the desk tonight I have a new project that I'm working on for a store owner. The Tau Riptide is going to match the store display army color scheme; standard coloring but in a camo pattern.
Here is the progress so far.
Still in the assembly phase. I'll piece together as much as I can before further assembly would hinder painting.

Tau Pathfinders

A buddy of mine did a conversion on these Tau Pathfinders and asked if I would sculpt some cloaks and masks for him. I went the extra bit and painted them to match his Cities of Death style army.

Still working out the video editing software. I hope you enjoy.
