Project: Double Force Org (part 1)

I did a little bit of assembly this weekend after receiving my bits order in the mail.
These flame cannons are evil to most armies.
Also did a little bit of painting with a few other chaps at a paint night.

Unboxing: Super 3D Dungeon Boards

Opening the mailbox is becoming a surprising event now that all my the Kickstarter pledge rewards are starting to ship. I received today a box from www.figurepainters.com who's funding campaign was for Super 3D Dungeon Boards. For my pledge of $15 I got eight colored potion bottles that I'll be using for Super Dungeon Explore. I'm happy with how they turned out and I think I'll invest in the boards themselves down the future.

Tau and Cake

On the desk tonight I have a new project that I'm working on for a store owner. The Tau Riptide is going to match the store display army color scheme; standard coloring but in a camo pattern.
Here is the progress so far.
Still in the assembly phase. I'll piece together as much as I can before further assembly would hinder painting.

Project: Double Force Org

Project: Double Force Org
The next 40k tournament in the area that I'll be attending is going to be 2000pts and will be using the new 6th ed rules for doubling the force organization. Normally I play Grey Knights but over the years I have collected regular space marines from various starter sets that I use with the Blood Angels codex. I'll be playing the BA for this tournament and will try to have everything painted.

Here's the list I'm going to build up and bring. I have a majority of these kits and some already painted. What I dont have has been bits ordered.

Lady Aiyana & Master Holt base

I remembered that I took photos documenting the base I did for Lady Aiyana & Master Holt. If you have any questions, please leave them in the comments section.
Here are the tools I used. Most are basic sculting tools that can
be found at any hobby shop. The brass rod was hammered out
to create the cobblestone and the sponge helps create a texture.
Super Sculpey firm and miliput are what I use to create the
stonework. the ratio is 1:1.

100th Post!!

Hard to imagine but it looks like I've hit my first milestone in blogging with this being my 100th post.
Here's what to look forward to in the upcoming future.

Painting
With the spring semester almost over I will be able to get back into the grind of painting the hughe collection of miniatures I've collected over the years. With the Geek Garage I will be painting something for their upcoming miniature swap event along with whatever task they assign me for the next Inter Mountain cup.

Videos

You might have seen that the video quality is getting better and that's thanks to practice and learning the editing software. I hope to get more proficient in capturing the work I do with paint jobs on miniatures in the months to come. Unboxing, reviews, and maybe even interview video are planned for the future.

Conventions
This summer has a nice lineup of conventions to look forward to. I'll be attending San Diego Comic Con, GenCon Indy, and possibly PAX Prime (if they ever post their dates). Be on the look out for photos and video from these events.

Commissions
I'm still open to paint commision pieces for the local gamers in the area. I do these not to make money but for the chance to paint up something new. There are a lot of great miniatures out in the world and I'm just glad the ones that make it to my painting desk find a happy home.

Kickstarters
I'm still a little addicted to kickstarters, but slowing down a bit. Thankfully some of the projects are starting to ship and I'll be able to show everyone all the new goodies. Here's what I'm currently funding:

Darkage Saint Mary

This is Saint Mary from the game Dark Age. I did this paint job as a commission for a local gamer and was my first time painting anything from this range. I like the sculpt and there wasn't much in the way of clean up. Lately I've been getting into the habit of using pigment powder for weathering and you can see a little of that here on the base and cloak.

Let me know what you think,
