THE LEGEND RETURNS! Why Infinity HexaDome Legends is the Relaunch We Deserved

The best game no one ever played is BACK!

What is up, hobby family! Grab your favorite plastic glue, put on a fresh pot of coffee, and sit down, because I am screaming with excitement today.

If you’ve been following this blog for a while, you know my absolute, undying love for Aristeia!—the tactical, character-driven sci-fi arena board game released by Corvus Belli years ago. I’ve said it on streams, I’ve written it in columns: Aristeia! was, bar none, the best game that no one ever played. It had the tightest rules, the wildest synergies, and a brilliant sports-broadcast vibe. Yet, it never quite caught the massive mainstream wave it deserved.

But Corvus Belli didn't let that dream die.

I’ve spent the last week pouring over a brand-new preview copy of Infinity HexaDome Legends, the complete visual and mechanical evolution and relaunch of our beloved classic. And let me tell you... it is spectacular.

Let’s dive into what’s changed, what’s new, who is in the box, and why you need to get your local group hyped for this July 2026 release!

The Redesign: What's Changed in the HexaDome?

At its core, HexaDome Legends retains the glorious, high-stakes tactical sports action we know and love. You draft a team of four distinct fighters (the aristoi), equip them with unique tactics, and battle over shifting scoring zones over five frantic rounds.

But Corvus Belli has polished the edges to an absolute mirror finish. Here are the biggest upgrades:

Streamlined State Transitions

Status effect tokens now utilize advance-triggers on a double-sided red and blue rim system. Red represents maximum severity (e.g., Exhausted -2 Energy), advancing to blue (-1 Energy) upon activation before being removed!

Upgraded Combat & LoS

Rules around Cover and Line of Sight have been beautifully clarified. Cover now grants a black defense die if adjacent spaces are blocked, drastically cleaning up tabletop disputes.

Digital Integration

Backed by major digital push offering downloadable rules, updated legacy profiles, and cross-media synergy with the companion PC game Infinity: HexaDome Tactics on Steam!

They've also maintained the clean priority of rules hierarchy across all tournament formats:

Scenario Rules > Character Rules > Rulebook

If there is ever a tie or an unresolved conflict, the player holding the Underdog Token decides the outcome. The underdog comeback mechanic is as tense and rewarding as ever!

Unboxing the Legends: Meet the Fighters

The core box comes with eight jaw-dropping plastic miniatures that form a versatile roster for pre-game drafting. Let's do a roll call and look at these gorgeous sculpts! Also, fully assembled for those boardgame folks.

Core Box Showcase Roster: Eterna Roster

Maximus
The Unstoppable Shield

Our beloved tank is back, and his Moto.tronica armor has been upgraded to a secret Teseum alloy. Mechanically, he’s still the ultimate protector.

Behind Me! (Passive) Shield of Jotum (3 AP)

Absorbs damage meant for adjacent allies and pushes targets on collisions.

Miyamoto Musashi

The Industrial Meat Grinder

Dressed in a beautiful traditional hakama, Miyamoto remains a whirlwind of absolute violence on the hex grid.

Ken No Sen (3 AP) Kaze Tachinu (Passive)

Transitions attacks seamlessly and displaces 1 space on damage while ignoring disengagement rolls.

hEXx3r

The Nomadic Hacker

The "Nomadic Witch" rules the arena positioning. Her redesign is unbelievably sleek with massive tactical control utility. They were one of my favorites in the original game.

Vade Retro (1 AP) Gotcha! (2 AP)

Displaces allies for flank setups and inflicts Immobilized & Slowed onto enemy carries.

Gata

The Hyper-Agile Mascot

Gata's new punk-pop aesthetic is out of this world. She is pure movement speed and zone stealing capability.

Freerun (1 MP) Distraction (1 AP)

Places adjacent to targets bypassing enemy lines without disengagement rolls.

Core Box Showcase Roster Neon Roster

Obake

The Oni Guardian

A massive powerhouse on the board. Obake restricts enemy mobility through sheer physical presence.

Intimidating Presence (Passive)

Forces enemies moving within range 1-2 to pass Brawn tests or lose all remaining movement.

BeatBox

The Arena DJ

BeatBox brings the noise and crowd control. His audio cannons deafen and punish tucked-away targets. I've played a lot of Overwatch so this character speaks to my LĂșcio days.

Make Some Noise! (3 AP)

Gains extra attack power if targets cannot trace clear Line of Sight back due to cover.

Tangerine

The Explosive Medic

Don't let the sweet face fool you. Tangerine is a support powerhouse that heals without line of sight.

It's Just a Scratch! (1 AP) From Tangerine, with Love

Heals and shields targets at range 0-4 while allowing allies to ignore up to 2 Damage.

Afara

The Shifty Phantom

Oozing ambition and style, she can literally phase through obstacles and poison unsuspecting targets.

Nesim (2 MP) Maarid Attack

Phases directly through walls and inflicts poison on targets adjacent to terrain.

The Roadmap: What the Future Holds?

One of my biggest gripes with original release cycles in skirmish gaming is disjointed schedules. Corvus Belli has completely solved this for HexaDome Legends with a structured roadmap:

July / August 2026
Core Box Global Retail Launch – 8 updated miniatures, rulebooks, tokens, and HexaDome game board. Don't forget the bundle for the Cold Blood Expansion.

Late 2026
AGL Organized Play Pack – Official league kit to jumpstart worldwide competitive tournaments.

Quarterly Waves
Character Expansion Packs – Regular 2 to 4 character releases to keep the draft meta dynamic and fresh.

Mid-Waves
Collector Sets & Legacy Cards – High-value collector sculpts with backward-compatible cards for classic minis.

FINAL VERDICT: 10 / 10

If you loved the tight, chess-like tactical depth of Aristeia!, this is the perfect upgrade. If you missed out on it the first time, this is your golden ticket. The rules are cleaner, the miniatures are top-tier, and planned global support ensures a thriving local scene. Now to wait for my ever favorite 8-Ball to return to the stage, CB, make it happen!

Which fighter are you drafting first? Let me know in the comments below, and don't forget to share your painted minis!
