Scarface and Cordelia

I went a little wild this weekend on the hobby work. One of the projects that I completed was Scarface and Cordelia. This is a merc unit for Corvus Belli's Infinity the Game and can taken in the Qapu Khalqi
army of Haqqislam. Getting two minis for the price of one is great in game terms and hobby spending.

I worked on my blending and shading techniques on both of these minis. Enjoy the photos.

Templecon charity project: Stormblade Captain (Complete)

As you read this, the Stormblade Capt will be making his way cross country to the waiting hands of the fine folks who are running the Templecon charity project. Hopefully he'll find himself a good home and help support a worthy cause.

For the base I went with the suggestion of flagstone. I used miliput and sculpted out each stone and used a sponge to give texture to the surface. Some of the stone are cracked and to do this look I carved a fine line through the stone and used the sponge to flatten the area giving a more natural look.

It may not be obvious from the photos but there are eight different shades of color adorning the flagstone. I used several tones of brown and green paint then once that dried I took my pastels (grey, red, purple, blue, yellow, and flesh) to the stones. The pastels gave a translucent shading effect to each area and helped with the overall look.

Enjoy the photos below and if you have any questions I'll be sure to answer them in the comments.

Cheers,
WC

Templecon charity project: Stormblade Captain

Hello folks,
This year is off to a good start with hobby painting. One of the first minis I'm currently working on is for a charity donation for Templecon.
The new Stormblade Captain solo for Cygnar is a great looking mini with plenty of details on the armor. As you can see I'm going with my bright blue color scheme with a mix of NMM for the golden cloth.

Here is the progress so far. Let me know what you think in the comments below.

Journeymen Aftermath

If you were following my escapades in my first Journeymen League last year you saw my first bits of hobby points. Well the league finished up in November right before all the holidays. Here is a showcase of everything I painted during the league. In total I ended up with 52 points and coming in second overall.

Also built up a second light box since I loaned my first one out to a friend. If anyone wants to see how I made it, let me know in the comments.

Deathbloom - Shael Han - Wrath of Kings

Here is one of the last minis I have painted to finish for 2013.
I got this mini after participating for a demo at the CMON booth at Gen Con.
The resin mini challenged me to do something a little out of my comfort zone and as you can see this is the first time for me to try the NMM technique.

I hope you like. Please leave any critiques or questions in the comments below.
